Indlæg af hamsterhuette.de » 9. maj 2009 06:52

Hi,
one of my friends is looking for campbell hamsters without diabetes! Are there any campbell breeders who check their hamsters for diabetes regular?
My friend would like to get 1 or 2 males cause all her males she brought from holland were diabetics :-(

Please help ;-)

have just read about diabetes with campbells and as far as i see my hamsters don't have those symptomes they don't drink that much water, they keep their weight (i check that regulaly), it would take a long time to make their cages smell. but again i have campbells but i can't say with a 100 procent that they aren't diabetic but i don't think so.

maybe kwo knows more about it

I think most campbells in Denmark come from me. And I must admit I haven't checked for diabetes. But mine doesn't show any symptoms either and never have, so I don't think it is in this line. I think mostly it is a US problem.

But it is easy to check for. You can get strips in a pharmacy, and you add a few drops of urine to test for diabetes.
